Ready for an awesome Fish-Fry on Friday night, Prime Rib on Saturday, and afterwards enjoy a game of bowling on vintage Maple lanes in the beautiful Kettle Moraine? Then you are ready for Palmyra Bowl.
Five years ago, the local bowling alley closed its doors. After being for sale for nearly four years, a local builder and entrepreneur, John Mehring, bought the “Uglow” building.
The new renters, Janet Lemke and Shaun Giese, reopened its doors. Many of the local residents and village board members were looking forward to the reopening. Many of them have fond memories of bowling there as children and watching movies in the upstairs theatre.
Future plans include utilizing the old theatre space for showing independent films and live music. There are also plans for a wedding reception hall that will seat approximately 200 people. The banquet hall is currently under construction, but is expected to be open by late summer.A great deal of engineering is going into the sophisticated multi-zone sound system to evenly distribute the sound throughout the venue. This is so patrons can easily have conversations at banquet hall events.
During a wedding, the sound and lighting will be focused on the dance floor so the people sitting are not blasted with the blaring music. Video screens will zoom in on the action just in case you are seated at a far-back table enjoying one of Janet’s slices of cheesecake.
The lower-level restaurant is already a success as many community members are now regular patrons of the establishment.
The new vision for Palmyra Bowl is to attract new people to come from out-of-town and bring new business to all of the businesses in Palmyra.
